Apple Account 2FA problems

Trying to log into my Apple Developer account, years later…
It wants to 2FA to my phone, but my phone never receives a text
It then assumes that you have an Apple phone and a few other things…
So you try to go down a route that they admit takes ‘days’, but that route appears to go into a loop at the “If you have access to your trusted phone number, you can use it to sign in” prompt. If you click “Go to Apple Account Signing in” you end up back at the 2FA message point, if you click “OK” it just goes back to the previous screen.
Does anyone know if they eventually resolve ‘your’ problem, or is there a way that actually works?

Do you have a Mac at all? Or have you used a Mac with your account at some point in the past few months?

If so, and you signed into your Apple account on it then it should also be treated as a trusted device and get the notifications.

Also, and I assume you’ve already tried this, but have you logged into developer.apple.com on your 2FA phone? Since it is a trusted device, I think it will trigger a request.

This kind of overkill with security is the reason why I have an Android phone and an iPhone!

I have a mac in a VM, just set up, but it has never been logged on

I also have an iPad, not logged on in the past few months, but it seems I am still logged on. Tried to find the “On an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch Go to Settings > [your name]. Tap Password & Security. Tap “Get Verification Code”.” But there is no “Password and Security”, only “Passwords” and” Privacy and Security”, neither have a “Get Verification Code” place to tap…

Nup, same as on the web.

Think you fell for their marketing strategy number 5235

For some reason the iPad was not connected to the internet, WiFi was on and it knew the password, just wasn’t connected. Even after connecting couldn’t find any verification code. Check for updates revealed the iPad was 17.? and 18 was available, so upgraded to 18. But still no verification code.
So logged onto developer.apple.com in the iPad and it popped up with a verification code, so could get in. Logged off and tried logging on again on real computer. This time the iPad popped up a verification code and I could get on in the computer, ahh the joy of it. Never ceases to amaze me that anyone would buy anything from this company.

Oh poor little Crapple

And now, it appears I have to give up ‘again’, obviously I need to log in with my Apple (developer) ID, and it appears that that is no longer possible.
Any attempt to do so produces the message “Verification failed”, “An unknown error occurred”
